The Chicago Trip for Andy and Malena's Wedding.
Before we left, Miles knew he got to ride on a plane, train, and a school bus. He was pretty excited. I was pretty nervous but we survived. Here is Miles on the plane on the way there. There is no picture of him on the ride home as it wasn't this smooth. It was during nap time and he screamed the whole time we were stuck in security. I am pretty sure everyone was hoping they weren't on our flight!
Once there, we went to lunch. Again, it was nap time so I was pretty scared. Luckily, Miles found a tent (fancy restaurant serving table) to play in. He would climb in, eat a french fry, climb out, get another, climb in, repeat. Kept him busy enough that I could eat so it was fine.
The next morning bright and early, we went to Millennium Park to walk around. When you get up at 5:30 Ohio time, it is really early in Chicago. Luckily, Miles slept in a little but we were out and about every day by 7. The first thing he wanted to do was stalk the pigeons. He didn't catch any but he tried to be stealth like in his approach.
He found another little boy in the bean.
This is Miles asking for a "treat" for the 1000th time. I had a bag of candy etc. to make him stop crying when needed like on a plane or a train. It worked pretty well until he just started asking for them every ten minutes. Backfire. Oh well, now that we are home I have put rules back into effect.
Oh, and we got to ride in a limo too. Highlight of Miles life to date I am pretty sure.
At the rehearsal Miles found a friend to play with. He hugged her and she wanted to hold his hand. Then he decided she wanted to wrestle so he would pull her down when he hugged her. Luckily she was pretty durable.
The next morning we went on another walk bright and early and saw the Marilyn Monroe statue. Miles liked looking up at it. Yes, she has underpants on. He spent most of his trip looking up at things (planes, trains, buildings, statues, Mama)
I think he was making sure she shaved her legs.
Then he found a cow. Right after this, he found a dog and was very excited.
The wedding. Here is beautiful Malena walking down the isle with her parents. Just before this was Miles time to shine. He was the ring bearer. He refused to wear two of the pieces of his five piece suit and he refused the boutonniere and his dress shoes. He wore his crocs. Pretty classy. It was either that or listen to him scream for hours. Not worth it. He did however deliver his pillow to Daddy as asked. At the rehearsal he grabbed the pillow and threw it on the ground and laid down and said "night night". I thought he would do it again but he was perfect! Until...... three minutes later when he wanted to run up front and I had to take him away from the ceremony.
I think he started talking so he could go order a drink with no one around.
Then he decided it was time for dancing before anyone else. He was pretty good though!
This is Miles on the cab ride back to the hotel. He is filthy and covered in sweat and chocolate. It was a great time!
