July 15

The girls had their six month neonatology appt. at Children's yesterday.  This is basically a wellness check with an OT evaluation.  I was pretty excited to go because they haven't been seen by anyone is over a month and I start to get a little nervous sometimes because they were so small.  Everything is fabulous with both of them.  Malorie is a chunk and a superstar.  She weighed 13 lbs and was 24.25 in. long. She is actually on the growth chart for her actual age!  Okay so she is only in the 3rd% but she made it on.   Pearl weighed 10 lbs 12 oz. and was 23.75 inches long.  She is only in the 3rd % for her adjusted age but she is growing!  They started with Pearl's OT evaluation and she did very well.  She is exactly where they thought she would be if not a little better than most 29 week babies.  She is pretty much right on with her adjusted age as far as motor milestones etc.  Then they saw Malorie and she blew them away.  She is somewhere in between her actual and adjusted age.  She was kind of showing off.  They both still prefer to look to their right though so we need to push the tummy time a bit more.  Malorie is strong enough that she doesn't mind it much but Pearl screams.  It is so hard to be a baby these days.
I made the mistake of letting Miles go into the main train car that is parked in Gambier.  We always get on the caboose and the flat car but the main car is up three or four narrow stairs and I never thought I could get him up there.  Well, I did but once there he liked it so much he refused to come down.  I thought of all the bribes in the world but you only have so much when you are on the bike bath with a stroller.  Finally, I said "do you want a Hershey's kiss" and he immediately followed my directions to get down.  Once down, he realized I didn't have any and the whole walk back to the car and ride home all I heard was "wheres my Hershey's kiss".  In the end he settled for some m&m's that are reserved for potty use.  The bag was still full.

Pearl was so mad at tummy time she started foaming at the mouth.

I am beginning to think the girls have some kind of mood disorder because these were taken in a matter of about 90 sec. today.

A very cute mood disorder.

Malorie fell asleep with her tongue out a couple nights ago.

Sleepy sisters holding hands.

Cousins Lucas and Micah came out to play on Wednesday.  We found out that it is time for Miles to go back to the babysitters to have some good modeling on sharing and gentle touches.  He is a bit possessive of his toys and his hugs turn into tackles.  Otherwise I think they had fun playing outside.

Miles has to wear his tractor shirt backwards so he can see the tractor.  He kept it that way all day.

I tried cereal this week and well, it didn't go so great.  They both spit and cried and let it run out of their mouths.  I'm not trying again for awhile.  They made it pretty clear they weren't ready.
