January 25

Yesterday both girls were having a little bit of a hard time when I was there.  They both had a couple of spontaneous spells where they dropped their oxygen.  I held them both which was nice.  Malorie got her PIC line out.  This was an IV line in her arm that looked kind of painful.  She is now off her protein and fat IV's and is strictly on breast milk.  They are fortifying it so that she is getting more calories.  So far, she was doing okay with it as of last night.  She got another bath and apparently she is in heaven when this happens.  She wakes up and looks around and loves having her hat and CPAP off for a little bit.  I wish I could be there when they do them.  I think I have seen her awake for maybe thirty seconds.

They are hoping to get Pearl's PIC line out today.  She has had hers in a little longer than Malorie so I hope it gets to come out.  She is doing good on her feeds.  She is up to a whole 16 ml!  She has to have an echocardiogram today.  They want to rule out some things that are making her stay on more oxygen.  Hopefully we will have some good news tomorrow to report.

Pearl is growing but she is still so tiny.  My hand covers her whole body.
Malorie was hugging her paci.
