March 5

Pearl has gained the last two nights and is up to 4lbs 5.5 oz.  I am hoping she just starts packing on the weight like Malorie did.  She is looking bigger - finally!  I was so excited when they dropped her oxygen to 1/32 so you can imagine how excited I was when I called and they said she was off all together!  I guess around 2 am a nurse found her without her nasal canula in and she was doing great.  She just decided to try her off.  I held her without anything on and we had a great time.  She took a feeding and did alright.  She dropped her saturation a little but got it back up.  I was hopeful but alas, she had to go back on 1/32 about 20 hours after she went off.  I think that was a pretty good try but she just isn't ready yet. 

Malorie is doing great.  She has decided the last two days to sleep really well all day and then around 8 when I want to sleep, she wants to stay up.  Last night I think it took her an hour to finally calm down and then I had to get up again in 30 minutes to feed her.  It was a long night to say the least.  Miles also wanted to get up at 5:45 so we are all a little cranky today.  The nurse said Pearl didn't want to sleep either last night.  I guess she didn't sleep at all between her 2am and 5am feedings.  The nurse read to her from her book which I thought was rather nice of her.

Pearl was ready to play.  Look - no tubes!  They are back now but it was a good day.

Miles told me "look - fixed it".  There is a knot in the wood on that last step and he fixed it by putting the hairbrush on it.  I came back later and it was standing on its end over the hole.
