February 14

Miss Pearl tried really, really hard but ultimatly had to go back on CPAP today.  I was all for it as I was siting with Malorie and saw Pearl's heartrate drop several times in a row.  She lasted about 24 hours and was so tired by the time I got there today that she had has several spells of her heartrate dropping.   They gave her some caffeine as a last attempt to keep her off but she just couldn't do it.  She didn't even fight them putting it back on because she was so tired.  I decided not to take her out and hold her because she was so tired.  I wanted her to use her energy for breathing.  She lost 9 grams last night but that was probably a loss from her CPAP tubing.  She had a 8ml residual from her feeding today which was strange but hadn't had once since so they think it was a fluke.

Malorie is doing GREAT!  I spoke to one of the Dr's and he wanted to try her off her oxygen today but I don't think everyone agreed.  I think they will try her off tomorrow.  She has taken a bottle every third feeding and had done super with it.  I fed her a bottle today which was very exciting for me.  She ate like she has been doing it forever so it was encouraging.  Hopefully she will be coming home soon.  The nurses think maybe two weeks.  I just want Pearl to be coming home too.  Since Malorie won't be allowed to go to the NICU once she is released, it will be interesting to see how we do it once she comes home.

Here is Pearl right before they put her CPAP back on.  She was very tired.

Right after they put it back on, she fell asleep.

Malorie celebrated Valentine's Day with a festive hat.  Thanks Grunny.

Miles decided to celebrate Valentines Day in Christmas pajamas, Halloween "ears" and with a clean shave.
