February 15

Pearl was very sleepy again this morning when I saw her.  They close the NICU from 10-12 for the Dr's to do their rounds.  When I came back at 12, they had decided to give her a blood transfusion because she was anemic.  She was very pale and lethargic.  I was pretty scared because that seems like such a major procedure but all the nurses were encouraging that she would feel so much better.  Apparently she does because when I just called to check on her, she had to be swaddled because she was fighting off the nurses who were trying to change her diaper.  She must have some energy back!  She gained two ounces last night as well and is now up to 3lbs 4.75oz.  They have her oxygen at 22% right now so hopefully she will be down to room air soon. 

Malorie was looking fabulous again.  She is still on 1/32 of a liter of oxygen and hadn't had a spell in three days.  The Dr decided to try her off and she did alright for a little while.  When I just called though, they had put her back on because she had a few drops in her stats.  I nursed her for a little while  which was nice.  She did an okay job but ultimately she wanted the bottle - it is so much easier!  She gained two ounces last night and is up to 4lbs. 13oz.

Malorie was enjoying some snuggle time with her Dad.  She was learning about how amazing a hand can be.  She stared at it intently and ultimatly decided to try and eat it.
